I push here, but I'm a pokernewbie. Can you give him credit for AA or KK with 4 of the 8 cards out already?

I smooth call here. Hero raised from one off CO, im assuming he has a wide range here, BB reraises and you call. I want to get allin here, and im not all that scared to give a freecard. I don't see any turn being too scary, and im worried he might get away if we shove flop. If we smooth call he pot commits himself or shoves most of the time on turn.

Yeah actually I like that line better, calling and getting him to commit more chips. I don't fear the AA KK.

Cool.

In the actual play, I raised back at him. I wasn't in prime poker condition, to put it mildly - it was 6am London time, and I was juiced on coffee and adrenaline, so I was in no mood for handing out free cards. Made no odds in the end, as he put me all-in with the AA.

I spent a lot of time beating myself up over this hand this morning. Looking over the play, I felt the only likely hands I were beating were AQ or QQ-77, and Villain's poxy flop bet should have tipped me off that he had something better than that.

Without a proper read on my opponent, is there any way I could have put this down?

Cheers
