Re: Final table ATo in the BB
[ QUOTE ]
When it checks through on the flop and the turn doesn't help, do you still feel like getting all your chips in the middle? Maybe at that point you feel like just checking and calling if the odds are good? [/ QUOTE ] Then it just becomes another boring math problem. Your dreams of the huge pot fade to dust, and you settle for the calculator. theres nothing wrong with taking the lead on the turn, and if you do get raised.. the stack depths are likely going to give you pot+implied odds to call (assuming its not a monster raise) if your lead doesn't take down the pot. When the stacks are deep.. its often better to let the pot build and try to hit the hand on later streets.. because: a) you can get your chips in with better conscience b) the pot will have escalated to a scale that your average internet gamb00ler will be reluctant to give it up without putting more money in the middle. c) if you miss you still have plenty to work with and your image will be one of a drawer, giving you free liscence to play made hands more profitably. |

Re: Final table ATo in the BB
[ QUOTE ]
Ok, this doesn't exactly apply to this hand, but... What do you generally do if you are in a situation where you have a great draw and would like to be the one to go allin first, but the pot is small enough compared to your stacks that it doesn't look like a check/raise allin will be reasonable? Do you make a small bet, in hopes of getting raised and then reraise allin? [/ QUOTE ] Hi that is an option, but okay sometimes if the pot is small enough you can just keep it small and see if you hit your draw. It's rare that you will be that desperate to get all the chips in when the pot is very small in comparison to your stack. There are spots like this where you'd just check/call or call if someone bets into you. The thing you usually don't want to do in such situations is make a sizable bet and then give your opponent the chance to bet you off the hand. Okay there are too many factors to sum it up in one paragraph. Also just betting out in the OPs hand is reasonable, however if you are playing the type of opponent who will bet every time when you check, and I think the chances are very good that you'll face a bet here, then I like check raising. |
