i don't know why i am the way i am.

my main reason for wanting to get in shape is health reasons more than anything. i just feel like my body sucks, and i am getting more health problems lately so exercise might help make my body like me better. plus i have a bad back, and just a wimp in general, and of course i don't like seeing my stomach get flabby. i just want to start doing something about it. it's not really to try to get sexy to impress people or anything like that.

as far as my weirdness goes, i don't really see it relating to me wanting to get healthier (other than making me not want to go to a gym - but a lot of people don't want to go to gyms for various reasons). i have no desire to be someone who goes out and has a lot of friends, it's just not me. it might be a boring life but i guess i like it that way. i wish i was normal sometimes just to avoid having to explain to people why i don't want to do things, but not for the sake of actually doing them. well maybe, it depends.

I am trying to think of something helpful to say here. But I don't think you need help.

I will say one thing though and this is about me and stuff I have learned while trying to overcome my problems.

I don't need to know the reasons for my problems. I just need to recognize them as problems and know that if I stop doing them the problems go away.

Don't swallow the spider to eat the fly. Just stop eating weird stuff.

Check out this thread on women using kettlebells to get strong and fit. I like them a lot, as they are very versatile and don't bore the crap out of me like using weights does.

kettlebell thread

The lady who wrote this particular post is about your weight, and finding that lifting kettlebells is opening her up to realizing how strong she can be. That's the kind of thing that keeps you going so much better than just wanting to look better. Eventually she'll get in shape just by pursuing the cool ways she can get physically stronger and the new goals she's accomplishing, rather than making losing weight a primary focus.

I'd recommend kettlebells and clubbells highly. They involve a good deal of skill and are fun to master and challenge yourself with. I started with the 35 pound kettlebell and am now pressing the 70 pound one easily. KB's being off balance makes them a real challenge to master. If they were dumbbells they would have bored me and gotten forgotten in a corner eventually. Women of course will start with a lighter weight than 35 pounds.

Clubbells are very good too, and work a whole lot on your coordination and control.

Clubbell site

I'm saving up for some of those, too. You can swing kettlebells around too, but with clubbells you can do complicated swings in different patterns, even like a dance if you want to, and get tremendous benefits in flexibility and coordination.

Both tools are really great and worth considering. And both cost a lot less than an elliptical, are much much better for you, and are more flexible by far, too.
