Has anyone ever played at this poker room in Paris? It was featured on WPT a few weeks ago and it looks really nice. I will be inParis in September andjust wanted somefeedback from anyone who has played there. On WPT,they said it was a private club butI emailed them and they said it was public.

Re: Club Aviation de France
I´ve never been there but know lots of players, who play there at least at touney weeks.
I understand that the athmosphere in at the Aviation is quite unique, they have a top notch restaurant and I think most americans will get very excited about the interieur. Anyway, sill consider this: Players are allowed to smoke on the table, and they do smoke a lot (but I´ve heard that they offer nonsmooking tables too). They play potlimit only at the Aviation. Furthermore the rake is UNBELIEVEABLE HIGH!!! Here are some facts, taken from http://www.pokerineurope.com/pokercl...php?casinoid=1 Most games played Dealers Choice € 50 Buyin, blinds 1-2, Table Charge 2 on the flop + 5 when the pot reaches 100 € 200 Buyin, blinds 2-5, Table Charge 20 per hour € 500 Buyin, blinds 5-10, Table Charge 30 per hour € 1,000 Buyin, blinds 10-20, Table Charge 40 per hour € 2,000 Buyin, blinds 20-40, Table Charge 50 per hour € 3,000 Buyin, blinds 30-60, Table Charge 60 per hour € 5,000 Buyin, blinds 50-100, Table Charge 75 per hour Passport required for free membership. There is a dress code. I wouldn´t play there on a regular basis, simply due the high rake. Anyway, for a single time visit it might be a very nice venue. Good luck Martin Aigner |

Re: Club Aviation de France
Hi slim,
I have played there quite a lot, though not recently. As far as the club goes, I would think it is the nicest place to play poker in Europe, probably in the world. The games are always pot limit dealers choice. They play Omaha High only, with 4 and 5 cards, O8, HE, Stud, Stud8, Aviation (somewhat like Pineapple), Double Holdem, Courchevel (similar to Omaha high with 5 cards, but you get to see the first card of the flop before any action) and maybe another variation I forgot... The atmosphere is very nice, although the players tend to go on tilt nad swear in French a lot The restaurant is excellent, even has a reputation in Paris (and there are quite a few good restaurants in that city ) I found the games quite beatable, at least at the 200 buyin tables, despite the high rake. There seems to be an abundance of loose players that make the games quite profitable most of the time. If you plan to go to Paris, send me a PM. I could meet you there and show you around... Re: Club Aviation de France
Hi Erndase,
Thanks for the info. From your response, does it mean that I can't find a table of just Holdem? Because if it has to be dealers choice, I wouldn't do very well......I only know how to play Holdem. Also, you said the games are always pot limit, I've never played that either. I don't want to a "tourist" and lose all my money I guess if that's my only choice, I'll still play just to say I played at this prestigious poker room. Are there comps in a fancy place like this? |

Re: Club Aviation de France
Hi slim,
to my knowledge, they do not offer single game tables (e.g. only holdem). And the games are definitley always pot limit. However, despites the games being dealers choice, about 90% of the time they play one of the following: Omaha high (either with 5 or 4 cards)(50%) Omaha 8 or better (30%) Courchevel (?) Holdem (not quite as much as the others) So, if you have enough time to get a decent understanding of Omaha high and 8 or better, the games are a lot of fun. Just play very tight and bet the pot when you have the nuts and you will even make some money. Get Ciaffones books "Omaha Poker" and "Pot limit and No Limit" and you will do fine. Seriously, send me a Private Message and I will give you some more hints. And if you are in Paris and have some time to spare, why not go to Aachen (ca. 3-4 hours, car or train) where they have Limit Holdem? Greets, Erd. |

Re: Club Aviation de France
Hi nicky,
yes, they do have Poker in Aachen. I have never played there myself, but I tried once. Unfortunately, that night the game didn't get started. But I heard they have Limit Holdem there, Thursdays till Saturdays, sometimes Sundays. I live in Koblenz, so Wiesbaden is closer for me. I also know the players there. But send me a PM, and maybe we can meet sometime in Aachen. Would be fun. Here is some more info on the casino, taken from www.pokerineurope.com Spiel Casino Bad Aachen Address 44 Monheimsallee, Kurpark, D-52062 Bad Aachen Telephone ++49 (0)241 18080 Fax ++49 (0)241 180 8161 Open 1:00 pm - 3:00 am ID/Passport required Smart dress Minimum Age 18 Cash Games 10-30 Limit and Pot Limit 7 Card Stud Hotels Steigenberger Hotel Quellenhof ++49 (0)241 152081 Casino Games Slots, 2 Blackjack, 13 Roulette, 2 Baccarat Amenities Restaurant, night club. I am not sure how accurate this info is, they don't update the webpage regularly, it seems. Greets, Erd. |

Re: Club Aviation de France
Thanks for the info. The limits there are too high for me, alas. What are they like in Wiesbadden? I looked it up on PokerinEurope and pokerpages but they didn't state what limits were offered. It's further from Brussels but I have two friends who live in Koblenz who I should visit at some point. By the way, when I was 16 I went on a school exhange to Kochem (sp?) near Koblenz. Lovely part of the world.

Re: Club Aviation de France
Hi nicky,
yeah, Koblenz is nice. I have been going to college here for 4 years. If you visit your friends, we have a weekly game, every Wednesday, NLHE 5 Euro buy in... Wiesbaden has only three-game tables, they play one round HE, one round Omaha high and one round stud, 10-30 spread limit. Greets, Erd. |
