hand against jason strasser
no cap buy in 1-1 blinds
i have around 300 in my stack in the CO with JQo, villain has me covered in the UTG. villain straddles, UTG+1 limps, i limp, button limps, bb completes, villain checks. flop is QQ8 rainbow. villain bets pot 9, i call, it's HU. turn is Kh, making two hearts. villain bets pot 27, i call. river is 9h. villain bets 81. i look at villain, who does not have his normal goofy look on his face. i fold. |

Re: hand against jason strasser
I'd raise on the turn once the second heart came. Also, did you fold because you thought he hit flush, or because you thought he had KQ? If he's potting it every time, I find it hard to put him on flush draw (rainbow flop).

Re: hand against jason strasser
personally i think you have to call. don't psyche yourself out. i think the third heart gives you even more reason to call. LAGs are banking on people to lay down big hands like this to scare cards.

Re: hand against jason strasser
I would have to think Jason monkey tilted you off your hand here. If you want to play the call down game against a player like him you really can't change your mind mid-stream, that's what he's depending on.

Re: hand against jason strasser
here's the way i saw it
by the time the river played out, i knew that villain knew he could only put me on a small range of hands AQ/KQ/QJ/QT/Q9/Q8/88, small chance of JT thus in my mind, there was a very small likely hood jason had a weaker Q. he either had a boat, a straight or some bs flush, or nothing at all. thing is, jason KNOWS that i know that he knows what i'm holding. previous times before, where i was sure he knew what i was holding, and fired into me on the river for value. against a LAG like jason, is it correct to fold here more often than not? or will jason fire three barrels with absolute crap often enough to call? |
