Default Is a 15.4 inch widescreen that bad for 4 tableing?

I am in the process of buying a laptop. I am torn between getting a 17 inch widescreen and a 15.4 inch widescreen. I don't like the added weight of the 17 inch model. Is there anybody here who 4-tables on a 15.4 inch widescreen and regrets not gettin a larger screen? Also I need a total resolution of 1600x1200 to 4 table correct? (arn't wide screens 1900x1200?)

Thanks in advence.

Dunno, but I got the Dell 6000 instead of the 9300 because I didn't want a mobile desktop.

I haven't gotten my laptop yet so I can't say . . .

ive never 4tabled on a 15" or 17", only a 19" and 21". 1600x1200 is the amount needed to 4table. 1900x1200 will give you extra space, about 1/3 the size of a normal PP table. i would imagine that 15" is very small, but you should be fine 4tabling on that as long as you dont have poor eyesight and dont plan on running 8hour sessions on it. if you play for that long you may have to squint straining your eyes.

I have a 15.4 widescreen laptop exactly, and i hook it up to an external monitor to 8 table. That screen will be fine for 4 tabling.

I have a 15.4" laptop and the resolution is 1680 x 1050. So yes, you can 4 table, but there will be some slight overlap. Not enough to cause an issue though. So, if you don't like the extra weight of the 17" I would say that you will be fine with the 15.4" if you can handle some minimal overlap.

15.4 screen size on the dell laptop has no overlap if you upgrade the monitor type, not size, but that also adds weight to the laptop to the best of my knowledge.

I'm in the same delemma as you, I'm looking to buy the Dell 6000 instead of the big 9300 because of portability issues.

I got the Dell Inspiron 5100 last January.

It's a 15.4" screen with 1400x1050 resolution and I find it is fine for 4-tabling.

I have some overlap of course but I guess i'm used to it.
Before this laptop I had a 1050x800 monitor or something.

If this screen did 1600x1200 that would work fine for me.
but if you have poor eye-sight you might find it too small.
I think it would be just fine and dandy though.

if you get the WUXGA 15.4" screen you will have 1900x1200 resolution and absolutely no overlap and actually lots of space on the side. I highly recommend the 15.4" WUXGA for 4 tabling.

Thanks everyone. I appreciate the comments. Looks like a lot of you are doing the 4 table thing on a 15.4 inch monitor. I'm sold. And yes I was going to get the WUXGA. I just didn't want that extra bulk from a "portable" computer. And besides I can use the money I save to buy a monitor if I really need it.

Thank all

That's the thing - get a cheaper smaller laptop and spend teh extra on the 2001FP, or an extra FP. I kinda wish i'd got a cheaper model and two FP's instead of the 9200 plus FP.
