Should I have just gone ahead and check/raised the flop here?
I really wanted to get it in on the turn...
Ultimate Bet 0.50/1 Hold'em (8 handed) converter Preflop: Hero is BB with T[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 5[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. UTG calls, 3 folds, CO calls, Button calls, SB completes, Hero checks. Flop: (5 SB) 5[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], T[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], T[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (5 players) SB checks, Hero checks, UTG bets, MP2 calls, CO calls, Button folds, SB calls, Hero calls. Turn: (5 BB) Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (4 players) SB checks, Hero checks, UTG checks, Steady checks, CO checks. River: (5 BB) 4[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (4 players) SB bets, Hero raises, UTG folds, MP2 folds, CO folds, SB calls. Final Pot: 9 BB And then should I have raised that river? Maybe I could've gotten other callers. |

Re: Should I have just gone ahead and check/raised the flop here?
Ida went for the turn checkraise, just like you did. Too bad about that.. After that, the pot's too small for anyone to call a river raise without something really good, but I think the raise is ok, cuz they're all weak and probably will fold to the single bet anyway. You might as well get one more bb out of the ep better, that's probably all you'll get anyway.. Maybe if you're lucky someone caught the BD flush and will put in a little more.

Re: Should I have just gone ahead and check/raised the flop here?
I think I'd just lead out on the flop here. Since you didn't, you're in perfect position to trap the field for two bets so, yeah, I'd pull the trigger on the check-raise.
Since you didn't I think you've gotta lead that turn. Seeing the turn get checked through definitely makes Baby Jesus cry. As the hand played out, I would've gone for overcalls on the river. Your raise looks like you hit a flush so you're going to fold any non-flush and there's a lot of potential callers there. If you'd played it differently, you might've been c/r by SB on the river (assuming he hit a small flush?). |

Re: Should I have just gone ahead and check/raised the flop here?
is your "bet" button broken?
nobody showed aggression PF, why go for a C/R? Just bet out the flop, bet out turn, bet out river. You missed out on alot of BB's here |

At the same time, if I'd bet out on the flop, I might've been immediately raised driving everyone else out of the pot. Who knows...

I think you did fine...smooth calling flop disguised your hand...it's only a bummer you couldn't get turn C/R in.

Re: Should I have just gone ahead and check/raised the flop here?
Easy to say that, but if what I was trying to do had worked out like it often does, I'd made MADE an extra 5 BBs at least.

you had no reason to believe that what you were trying to do would work, who did you think was gonna bet here?

Re: Should I have just gone ahead and check/raised the flop here?
Maybe. Or maybe it's raised and everyone calls anyway? Or maybe you check and it's checked all the way through? Who knows? No one's shown any aggression yet so anything can happen.
I think in these situations the most straightforward approach is usually the best. In general, at these limits, these guys are just looking for an excuse to call and draw dead against your hand. Give 'em one. |
