Default 500 on stars

So I wound up playing after all...

Blinds are 75-150 and I raise UTG (450) with 77. All fold to BB who has me covered and pumps it to 900. I pushed. He flops over AA and with no help, I'm out.

BB was doing a lot of raising and stealing before so that was what I put him on - a steal. Note, I had about 3500 chips and he had about 10k. Should I have folded or called and seen flop?

Not much experience in MTT's so any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Depending on how many chips exactly you have, I would probably call and see a flop. I'm not very happy getting all of my chips in the pot preflop w/ 77 unless I'm really short.

Thanks for the reply.

I had about 3500 at this point. It was probably a poor hand to push with (I'm about 23XBB) but Villain had shown a propoensity to push on the flop and was acting before me. Either way, I prolly shouldn't have put so many chips in the pot. This was the first big MTT ($ wise) I played and one of a few MTT's over all.

Thinking back, if he calls I am a coin flip at best and this is probably not the time to gamble for all my chips (23BB).

i dont like rasing here to start. Just limp in first and go from there. You have a good read on the reraiser, but your missing an important piece of information. Has he showed an ability to lay down before the flop when he gets challenged? You need to know this before you try and make a play.

Good point too. I haven't seen him lay down a hand till then because he wasn't challenged, by anyone. I guess I had a premature case of "policitis" and thus an ealry exit from the tourney. I'm sure I did wonders for the guys table image - I wish him luck!

Crashed and burned just before the third break. Critical hand:

Blinds 300/600. I've got ~14K. 1 MP limper. A very aggressive player to the limpers left raises to 2K (he has ~9K). Folded to me in SB with AQo. I push. Limper calls w/77. I lose the coinflip. I won a coinflip to stay alive earlier (and was in fact down to ~2K chips only about an hour before.

Given the range of hands the raiser had been showing down, I think my push was definitely +EV and I'd do it again.

I watched you for a bit there. I thought the call with 77s was marginal at best there by your opponent. I also liked your play with the flush draw (a while earlier on moneymaker's table) and a little luck there never hurts.

I think it was a good play, I dont like the call with 77 either.

4th break update: still in with 45k, 20 out of 90

For the rest, I check-raised the player "Strawberries" all-in. He had been playing very aggressively, so I thought there was a good chance his bet was a semi-bluff or outright bluff. He had 2 pair and called, but I caught my flush on the river.

He had made a small enough bet on the flop that I had odds to call (he had position). If I had done that, he probably pushes me off the hand on the turn.
