Re: Fold pocket Aces??
I never gave one thought to folding (remember I instacalled), but I woke up in the middle of the night screaming "You went all in with THAT?", "Jesus Christ what a suckout," and other assorted stuff.

Re: Fold pocket Aces??
[ QUOTE ]
The following describes the criteria to fold aces preflop. when folding guarantees a huge increase in money which is - on/near the bubble in a satelite when you have an above average stack. - a big bubble in an MTT (like the jump from 4th to 3rd is usually pretty big, same w/ 3rd to 2nd. This situation happens when two stacks of same size go all in before you like the hand you mentioned, but keep reading. AND - Calling, and losing would either knock you out, or cripple you pretty badly. The second part is not the case in your situation, because even if you lose the hand, you'll just be where they were when they made their move, AND you're still guaranteed your spot. Also, by calling you're like 75% to move up TWO spots here. Insta-call. Unless you play a lot of satelites you most likely won't have to deal with any situations in which you fold aces. Period. [/ QUOTE ] Yup, I think exitonly pretty much has this one fully nailed. Next subject? |

No, that is not a good spot to fold your AA unless you aren't playing to win. Play for the win, not for the next money spot. And that is certainly a spot I would love to be in with AA. |

Re: Fold pocket Aces??
I'm new to the Multi-table forums--I used to play SnGs mostly, and stayed to the 1-table forums.
I'm impressed by how many people in this forum actually took this question seriously, and gave thoughtful answers. In the 1-table forums, they would just flame the OP to hell, screaming "no bad beat posts." I think I prefer the 1-table forums. |

Re: Fold pocket Aces??
That's because talking like that about an SNG tournament is stupid. You lose at most an amount that you shouldn't care about at the level you're playing in with an SNG. For MTTs it can raise questions when you get your ass kicked by a bad beat for a large lump of change.
In other words, emotions can get the best of you when that kind of stuff happens for an MTT. But for an SNG, if emotion gets the best of you about the bad beat or the money then you deserve to get flamed for it. |

So bad beat posts are tolerated in this forum? That's great, because god knows I've wanted to post a few, but have always resisted the temptation. I actually find it easier to take a bad beat in an MTT than an SnG. That's because I have lower expectations in an MTT. With an MTT, I expect to money some of the time. With an SnG, I expect to money all of the time. So if I play 4 MTTs and don't money, then I don't get worked up about it. But if I play 4 SnGs and don't money, I get pretty upset. |
