Default Can you lose 5 buyins in HU in one hour and still be a good player?

No real content, sorry.

This is exactly what mulberry1 is doing against KKF on UB 50/100 HU now...

There were no no bad beats, just callnig alot of KKF all-in and overbluffing...

Never underestimate variance. It is a poker players worst enemy and can strike at any time. Variance is especially high in HU matches. So to answer your title, yes.

The game is still going and it looks as if mulberry1 still does not believe strong bets from KKF at all...

it is now 2 hours and over 6 buy-ins... pretty good hourly rate, I would say...

Edit:

Ok, mulberry left busted and KKF is sitting on ~80K...
And yes, there were no major bad beats, nothing improbable, the guy was just giving away the money...

I've been railbirding these games at the end of the night when i'm winding down. I was just wondering if anyone has seen Matusow up more than a few bb's ever. Seems every time I see him he is getting owned. Keep kicking ass KKF.

I read this and immediately log on to UB to see KKF stack him on the turn. and then mulberry leaves. WTF. I wanted to watch. Kane is sitting on 80k right now.

He doubled up twice from KKF and still managed to give it all back...

i made 3 or 4 bad mistakes in this game. Ive really given into my reads, and feel that Ive been making alot of very strong folds, which is also may be the cause of some of my opponents tilt.

Checking the turn on 8 8 Q X with KQ, allowing him to catch an A with AJ.

Calling with KK on the turn 7 2 4 T when he pushed after potting it on the flop.

I dont remember the exact scenerio, but I check-called a 1800 pot sixe bet when he had Ac8c flush.

Those were the only mistakes I made. I did give him one bad beat, when I check-raised the flop 8 8 J allin with AK and he called with Jd 5d after I reraised him preflop.

Default Game over.

game over.

mulberry (or whatever played bad towards the end) and KKF took it down fairly easily.

Last hand (out of memory, king could be jack or something KKF had top pair anyway):

flop K46. KKF bets flop. mb calls.
turn: blank. check, KKF is all-in. MB calls.
river: 6.

KKF shows: KJ for two pairs kings and sixes.
MB shows: Q4o for two pairs fours and sixes.
