Default A book to help me in multiple game tournaments

I want to learn multiple poker games to get me ready to play multi-games tourneys like HORSE (mainly not to be known as just another Hold'em player). Is there a book or a set of books that can help me do this. I was thinking Super System and Super System 2 but is there anything else I can use. Play Poker like the Pros, perhaps?

Its great to read that there are still rare individuals out there wishing to become real poker players and expand their arsenal beyond holdem.
I did not expect to see any replies to your post.
I am certain SS2 will get you started in the right direction.
2+2 has books specializing in various forms of the games should you wish to delve deeper into specific forms.

Yes, there are books that will help you. 2+2 publishes a book that covers each of the HORSE games quite well (and in only four books!) I recommend that series.

SS2 is worthwhile, and it will definitely help here, but several of the HORSE games aren't covered. If you're going to spend the money on both SS1 and SS2, it would cost little extra to buy the 2+2 series, and those books will help you more, IMHO.

I can't recommend PPLtP as a substitute for better books on each of the games, but if you've already read those, there are a few ideas in this book that are worth reading.

If you only have three hours to read before playing in a HORSE tournament, and you haven't read anything on any of these games then Fred Renzey's "77 Ways to Get the Edge at Casino Poker" isn't bad, but it's not as good as the 2+2 library.

No disrespect to Hellmuth, but he hasn't won a bracelet outside of hold'em and that is the worst section in the book.

i hate to say this, but the way to learn is to become as good as you can in EACH game. while this requires a lot more work it will pay off.

plus when you move up high enogh in limits, you often are forced to play in mixed games. they are often the only games in many B&Ms at the higher limits.

if you want recommendations on each game let me know. i can not see how you can play a tournament unless you have a solid understand at a minimum of each game. sorry.

once you learn each game, you have a huge advantage in game selection. as good as the hold em games are today, you can sometimes find a mixed game, or stud, omaha game, etc, that is juicer. learning each game will certainly make all your poker better.

"Play Poker Like the Pros" was the first poker book I bought. And I'd say that's about all it was good for. The info Phil gives you in there, could probably be found with a Google search.

Outside of SS2 I haven't read any books on other games...but I'd recommend not picking up Hellmuth's. If it were me I'd pick up a book on each individual game. Based on the books I own, I'd start with 2+2 books (not the 'advanced' ones. As you probably know, they really mean advanced.)
