Default Am I ever good?

Party Poker 10/20 Hold'em (6 max, 6 handed) converter

Preflop: Hero is BB with 4[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 3[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img].
UTG calls, MP calls, 1 fold, Button calls, 1 fold, Hero checks.

Flop: (4.50 SB) J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 4[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 4[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (4 players)
Hero bets, UTG raises, MP folds, Button folds, Hero 3-bets, UTG calls.

Turn: (5.25 BB) T[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players)
Hero bets, UTG calls.

River: (7.25 BB) J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players)
Hero bets, UTG raises, Hero..?

Am I good often enough here for a call? Complete unknown, first hand at the table. His hand should be pretty obvious, but can he be on a missed spade draw or something weird 1/10 times?

if you can't fold to raise check/call to induce a bluff from a flush draw or some random hand.

Betting is way better because you get value from pocket pairs and ace high but a Jack makes up a lot of his hand range so if you are gonna put 2 BB in on river it is no good. Your equity on that second bet is very very low.

Yeah, no way I'm checking that river. A lot of stuff calls that would just check behind instead. Looking back at it, bet/calling looks really bad compared to bet/fold.

I'd bet/fold the river unless I had a good read that villain will bluff scare cards.

I'm surprised by all the check/calls. Why do you think you get more value than betting (and folding to a raise)?

My new theory is that if I am putting in a bet I want to see a showdown. That card is extremely scary on the river plus you have no reads on him at all. If he raises this river on a bluff you have to fold or if you check and he bets you can call.

I think he bets that almost every time if you check to him.
