Default Re: how do I change my IP address?

Well since you only have one computer, you don't really need a router. take the router out. plug your computer directly into the cable modem. (You may have to power down your cable modem for a 10 min as Cable modem's remember the MAC address of the device that it's connected to and it may not let you connect if you connect your 'puter instead of your router rifht away). After the type the ipconfig /release commmnad. Wait a couple of days and type ipconfig /renew.

I don't know why you are trying to change your IP... But, I don't know if it would be worth it...

This is a bad idea unless you are very comfortable with securing your PC from Internet attacks. At least the Linksys will provide a basic firewall.
