Default Do you make backups of your PT database?

Searched for this topic with no results so forgive me if this is old stuff.

The Access db is the heart of Pokertracker as everybody knows. How do you protect it?

I have it on two hard drives, burn a copy, and zip a copy to keep in Gmail.

I used to support small business accounting software, and have bad memories of having to tell callers that their db was wasted. Then listening to the lament of those who didn't follow a good backup schedule

Approx. monthly in the past. I just switched to postgres and there is a backup function in PT for it. This should get me to do it weekly. I like the idea of the gmail storage.

Pokertracker works from an Office Access database. Look in the Pokertracker folder in Program Files, and copy the file ptrack.mdb.

It's a good idea to store this 'offsite' somewhere, that's why I mail myself a copy to Gmail. The db will get huge over time, so you might want to compress it with Winzip or Winrar.

Note: of course you don't want to move the file. Just make a copy

I'm backing up about every other day via PostgreSQL's utility within PT. My question is - if I copy the locally created backup file to Gmail or other global storage, can I just download PostgreSQL onto another computer and analyze w/o PT? Does the backup include the database schema or just the raw data?

Thanks in advance for any answers-
Scott
