I wanted to watch TV on my PC but didnt want to shell out the loot for a new video card.

So i picked this up ATI TV TUNER

You can record on to your hard drive and even rewind and pause live tv.

I think this is what your looking for.

I have one of these, and its a real piece of crap. It bluescreens my computer continuously. Spend the extra money and get one that isn't an ATI POS.

You must have done some thing wrong i use it every day with no problems

A friend of mine recently found a slickdeal on 250G HDs for like $80 B&M w/ no rebate. He bought 9. He now has a 2TB array that he uses to archive everything from his tivo automatically... it's so pointless

I figure if I want a show on DVD, I'll download the whole season off newsgroups after the season has ended.

I just don't have the time to edit out commercials...

Get the DVR from DirecTV. If you get one right now, they're still TiVo boxes with TiVo software (that will change in a couple of months). The $6 per month is totally worth it. It doesn't seem like that now, but for that cost you never have to remember to set up recordings, and you save the time it takes to do so. Plus, your bill is about $50-$60? What's $6? If you're a Total Choice Premier subscriber (the $89 package) the DVR fee is included in that price.

If you want more information about the DirecTV TiVo, try the Tivo Community forums at http://www.tivocommunity.com/

Disclaimer: I might have five TiVos on my DirecTV account.

250GB drives are $90 every day online, so $80 b&m with tax is pretty equal

It isn't the money. It just seems wrong to have to pay monthly to use a vcr.

Much like me some time ago, you have no idea how wonderful the DVR is. Principle or not, you must get it NOW!
The $6 is nothing compared to its glory.
