Default KQ hand at NL 25

Bought in for $13. Pick up KQ first to act at a 6 person table. I raise to .75. Could have made it a dollar. Villian calls on the button.

Flop comes: J 5 4 (all clubs)..we both check...I have the king of clubs. Wanted to get a free draw.

Turn card: K hearts. I check waiting for a bet. Villain bets $2. I smooth call.

River card: 2 diamonds. I check again waiting to check/call. Villain puts me all in for $10.

Hero?

Hero Folds. And then buys in for the full amount.

Your pair of kings isnt likely going to beat anything that he can showdown. You might have been drawing dead from the beginning, but I would look for a middle set here.

Fold. No Brainer.

Firstly, your calling $10 for a $17 pot. Thats getting 1.7 to 1 on your money.

I gaurentee you that more then 1 in 1.7 times this situation comes up, he will have it. You may be right this time but you will not make a profit on this call over time.

Secondly, so what if he is putting a move on you? The way to get him is not by making a spectacular call with a weak hand. Its to wait for the time you have the flush and let him try to "bluff you out of it"

When toe to toe with a bluffer, lose small, win big. You have to let top pair go with him, He'll take a bunch of small pots before you trap him for one big one.

I called thinking he was on a big bluff. I'm a moron. I usually am good at picking things off like this. He had A8 clubs. I was so confused on why he bet $10 with the nuts. Why not $2-4?

Honestly, if someone buys in short I peg them as a fish and am going to try to push them til they prove otherwise. To me that has always been a warning sign. I know it sounds stupid but watch for it... if someone buys in for a fraction of the table average they are likely there trying to double up fast... which is the perfect time to push the nut.

I'm a tourney player that plays on PokerStars and received 50 bucks from PartyPoker from my friend. So I didn't want to buy in 25 at 2 tables. I've been multitabling 3 tables at party buying in for $13 each and am up 75 dollars in a short time.

You really think I should buy in for $25 without a big bankroll?

i ALWAYS buyin at the max, and reload if i get a little below the max.. when you do get the nuts you want to be able to maximize your possible profits.. and by only buying in at 13 you effectively cut that in half.

Buy in short if you are a torney player until you get good.

No - I think that you should be playing smaller tables... but thats not the point. Its a warning sign. Its like the WPT wannabe at the B&M - you know the one - the guy doing the Phil Laak impression because thats what he saw on TV.

It might be a personal thing - its just something that I watch for. If nothing else, it shows either a lack of confidence or bank... both of which are deadly since someone is likely to be playing either scared or crazy.
