Default Are sats just a waste of time?

Don't get me wrong, I love getting into Sat guar. and friday special for cheap, but say I'm doing good 4-tabling 10/20 limit, would I be better off just playing that and buying in direct? What about bigger buyins like million $ guar.? What about a $5000 EPT event? WSOP?
Is there a line and where is it drawn?

eh, you could buyin directly, but a sat can still get you in for super cheap, so while you're 4 tabling the 10/20, you could do a $3 rebuy and win a seat for $10 or somethin and keep that extra $200 as profit. thats what i try to do.

the best way to look at is ignore the fact that you're getting entered into a tournament and ignore the difference between T$ and normal $. If satellites are profitable relative to the games you play, play them, otherwise buy in directly.

Also, MTT's require a shift from your normal cash game play. Although the quality of play in satelittes is fishier, getting adjusted to increasing blinds and potentially tournament ending calls may make it worthwhile for practice.

haha, you just busted me first level in that $14 2 table sat... I limped 22 in co, you raised to 4x bb, I call, flop 257, you bet pot, I call, turn 4 you push I call with A3. That wasn't very nice. I figured you had overcards or at worst an overpair and wanted to let you catch up or bluff the turn. Whoops.
