I'd say that chip breakdown is good, but the color choices themselves are a little bonkers. If I was in your position, I'd go closer to standard colors so that in the future, if you get a bigger game going, your set will expand smoothly and your players will quickly adapt to any new colors.

0.25 Gray (300)
$1 Blue (400)
$5 Red (100)
$25 Green (design for later expansion)
$100 Black (design for later expansion)
$500 Purple (design for later expansion)

Bonkers indeed (still high about my new table), but I live in a small town with friends (and myself) not likely to ever make enough to ever play high enough to need a $25 dollar chip (at least at the home game: I like to 3-6 at the casino and hope to move up someday!). Hell, I'm having trouble convincing them to move from .25/.50 to .50/1.00. (I'm actually having to get new players.)

But I see your point -- I haven't yet ordered any chips, so I'll think more about the colors. And I guess green/black/purple just appeals to the nerd in me.

I justified using green/black/purple because, "This will be my tournament set one day" I like the colors and everyone used to casino colors understands it innately. If you want traditional colors, use a yellow or grey for .25, blue for 1 (since we have already determined white chips sux) and red for 5, but you already knew that

The white faux clays are pretty decent. The blacks are ok, and I'm quite fond of the green, red, blue and purple. Green/black/purple is a good enough combination.

I got
200 Green
200 Black
100 blue
100 red
100 purple
100 yellow

works for 6-10 person NL tourneys and anywhere from 10cent-20cent limit games to wooo! 50cent-$1
