i did a little time as a juvenile (yes, i am reformed) and that stuff didnt go on afaik. of course we were kids, and also not serving any signifigant amount of time.
my uncle did a year in state prison, and said that stuff only happens if you want it too. he also said the violence is overrated. most of my friends growing up have done time in either county or state facilitys and all say pretty much the same thing (county jails are more violent though) apparently latins are more known for it than any other race.

My sister is a doctor and has done medical details in Ohio and Florida federal pen's.
She says Ohio is relatively safe but florida has massive problems. She says you will be very lucky not to catch a venerial disease in a Florida federal pen.
