Default Are liberals 100 years behind the times?

Because many of them seem to think that Marxism is a viable system, despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary.

Your turn...

Well, Abe Lincoln was a liberal Republican, and almost any southern democrat from the middle of the 20th century was certainly conservative.

In my original post I made the mistake of not clarifying that when I say conservative, I meant culturally and/or morally conservative. Said conservatives don't believe in, or tend to fight, social change, and they usually get it wrong. Clearly Democrats have been just as guilty of this as Republicans in the past, if not more so. It's probably also correct to say that modern Republicans have cornered the market on social conservatism, but that could change again some day.

I know of no liberals who are Marxist, or think Marxism is a viable system.

Numbers dont mean much, because you can manipulate stats anyway you want, it doesn't tell you want is included in those numbers. Those numbers are vague and are proboly incorrect as well. When we say governemt hand outs we talk about things like wellfare, not just "tax dollars".

[/ QUOTE ]

Yup, this convinced me. You're right; red states are generally not recipients of government hand-outs.

Conservative Democrats from the old Confederacy. If OP has said "Democrats" and "Republicans" instead of "Liberals" and "Conservatives," you'd have a point.

Yes; I responded too hastily; see my "Second Look" post.

Democrats showed their fundamental racism in the 2000 campaign.

What does this mean?

[/ QUOTE ]

It means that Republican spammers like BGC are more interested in playing rhetorical games than they are in actually making accurate and honest arguments. Old news, really.

Abe Lincoln was not a liberal by any means.

Ahhh so the democrats using the race card and the republicans pointing it out, is now wrong.

I know a couple, but they are kinda out there, many people believe marxism was never really given a fair chance.
