I will sometimes cap here with JJ, but I also will sometimes smooth-call his preflop 3-bet with AA and KK.

I don't like this reasoning. Increase your capping range of hands, not your calling range of hands.

If hes a TAG he should be 3betting with a range of hands that hero has pretty much crushed.

Do you cap 100% of the time with AA and KK heads-up? If so, you might want to reconsider, and start thinking about making some additional money post-flop.
