Default Aggressively Agressive

I have come to realize that aggression is a key to winning poker. But what is the line between aggressive and overly aggressive? If I flop any pair I usually bet if I have top pair I usually raise any bet pending their aggression. If I have a draw I usually bet or raise it. Am I being to aggressive or just making standard plays? Is the motto “if its could enough to call it’s good enough to raise” acceptable? The only thing is most of the time if I raise a bettor with top pair their most likely only going to call me with a stronger hand and sometimes say I get min-raised I feel obligated to call. This is all post-flop by the way pre-flop I’ll call with certain hands and play them for set or something of the sort.

Its a very fine line, I would say that someone is overly aggressive when they being aggressive in "bad situations." Like re-raising top pair on a flop that is three to the flush or straight and having 5 players yet to act.

This may be overly simplistic, but I guess i would generally see the distinction between th two being that aggressive players tend to make "smart" plays while overly aggressive players tend to make "reckless" plays.

Playing by mottos may get you in trouble.

FWIW, one of the notes I make commonly about players goes something like, "aggressive at inopportune moments."

By no means do I play by mottos or intend to further them, I was trying to illustrate more indepthly what you said .

You did it much better BTW.

On second thought I think you may have been referring to the OP, so probably disregard this post.
