yeah this is what I meant. I guess I have been in the MTT forum wayyy too much. Most newbies there play the way HOH tells them to without any deviation from it. All I hear is your M is this push. Your M is this why are you playing that hand. LOL. But I agree with you 100% fundamentals with your occassional fish play that you won't find in a book

But thats the point. He will learn a lot of things that don't work but things that will work that players who read a book will never learn because of their preconceptions learned in said book. Holy run on sentence batman.

And how in the hell did this thread come back to life anyway? I was sure this horse had been kicked to death long ago.

Earlier in the thread KKF said that the 50/100 games weren't that tough. People said "why aren't you playing in this game and beating it? HUH!?!? HUH?!?!? that's what i thought!!" well KKF is now beating that game and Yeti remembered this post.

I would wager that all the players you are thinking of are part of a poker community. I am sure they discuss hands with other poker players on a regular basis.

[/ QUOTE ]

A couple of examples have already come up in this thread. Here's another one from an interview with Daniel Negreanu:

[ QUOTE ]

Daniel: I thought it was funny. I saw “The Crew” on TV saying that they were going to take over the poker world. And I said, you know what? Before you guys decide you want to take over the poker world, you better check with my crew. When I grew up in my 20s, it was me, John Juanda, Phil Ivey, and Allen Cunningham. I thought, before you all want to take over the poker world, you might want to check with us first.

[/ QUOTE ]

I mention this because Phil Ivey's name came up earlier in the thread as one of the naturals who didn't read poker books. Maybe he didn't read so much, but he definitely had people to discuss hands with (and I'm sure some of them read books...)
