The sock dispenser is a good idea, and could probably be done fairly easily. Something like those re-used plastic bag dispensers they sell in junk-for-the-house catalogs, only modified for socks.

The beauty of the dispenser is that you have easy access to your "everyday" white socks and you still have the sock drawer for dressier ones.

Depending on what level of functionality you have in society, you may need more than one color sock at some point. The beauty of the dispenser is that you have easy access to your "everyday" white socks and you still have the sock drawer for dressier ones.
Or you buy two.
