It was surprising but once you see the monsters were fake and the village was in the present time, there is really no mystery.

(ok i don't believe what i just said but i felt like contributing to the nonsense anyway).

That's right. The island-in-the-modern-day theory collapses under its own weight. How would the elders explain airplanes and helicopters overhead. Such an elaborate conspiracy would have been exposed years ago. Obviously the supernatural has to be involved. Doesn't anyone read Poe anymore?
