Default 20/40: Poorly played AT?

Live $20/40 9 handed ring game

Table is loose, aggressive. If anyone has a big hand, they wait until the turn to raise (misplaced slowplay syndrome). No one thinks about protecting their hand.

Hero is UTG with A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]T[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

Preflop: Hero raises, UTG1 folds, MP1 folds, MP2 calls, MP3 calls, CO folds, Button calls, SB calls, BB folds

Reads:
MP2 is semi loose, unless there is a raise in which case he could play any two cards. Very aggressive postflop, unless he has nothing.

MP3 will call any time I open raise. He is ultra passive pre & post flop, but will call down with mid pair or better.

Button is looking for action and a raise means he is in. He'll have any pair, any suited, any ace or king, any semi connected. He's aggressive post flop with mid pair or better. He's only super aggressive (auto bet mode) if he raised preflop.

SB's hand range is the same as the button, but he is always aggressive postflop. His bet is just as likely air as it is the nuts.

Flop: 7[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (5 players)
Pot: 11 SB

SB bets, Hero raises, MP2 calls, MP3 folds, Button calls, SB calls

Turn: A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] [7[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]] (4 players)
Pot: 10.5 BB

SB bets, Hero calls, MP2 raises, Button folds, SB calls, Hero calls

River: 2[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] [7[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]] (3 players)
Pot: 16.5 BB

SB checks, Hero checks, MP2 bets, SB calls, Hero calls

Raise the turn, you could easily lay down the best hand when it's bet behind you and then raised again or check/raised by SB.

PREFLOP: This is a fold in almost any game type but especially in the loose aggressive game you are in. Playing ATo out of position against a lot of tricky aggressive players cannot be profitable IMO. FLOP: Good raise, since you have to call, you should raise to help possibly clean up your ace outs. Turn: You have a vulnerable top pair hand in a large pot and someone just bet into you, you must raise to protect your hand here, not raising here is a great sin. By just calling you allow any gutshot or 5 outer to draw profitably against you, you cannont alow this. Protecting your hand here with a raise is more important than worrying about if the SB has a better hand than you. RIVER: Youre getting 18.5-1, this is a must call, so this is standard, you only have to win a little over 5.1% of the time to make this call profitable.

I agree 100% with Westly here.

Preflop: If I'm going to play ATo upfront I would much rather do it at a weak tight table.

Flop: Is fine.

Turn: Given your description of the SB this is a perfect oportunity to raise. There is no real reason to worry about the SB here, but this is an excelent chance to make everyone behind face two bets. Give them a chance to make a mistake.

River: This streat would have played much better had you raised the turn. Just as Westley said given your description of MP2 and SB I'm sure your winning here more than 18.5-1.
