An acquaintance of mine who I haven't heard from in over 3 years sends me the following forwarded email today:

The guy probably just has you in his email address book. Since it's a chain-letter-type email, he probably just sent it to his entire list.

(Note: even if the mass email list doesn't appear in the actual email, it doesn't mean he didn't "bcc" it to everyone).
