Default 77 in BB vs possible steal raise

No read on villain

Party Poker 1/2 Hold'em (10 handed) converter

Preflop: JerseyTom is BB with 7[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 7[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img].
7 folds, Button raises, 1 fold, JerseyTom calls.

Assuming this is OK?

Flop: (4.50 SB) J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 2[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 6[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players)
JerseyTom...???

What do you do on the flop and why?

Here is what I would do. There are other good ways as well.

Bet. If he raises call it, check/call the turn and bet the river (assuming blanks slide). If he calls the flop, bet and again and fold if raised. River action depends on the player.

What are "blanks" here? No cards higher than the board?

Maybe I'm already drawing thin vs. a pair of J's or better. Isn't this kind of expensive, he says weak-tightly...

I guess I just don't understand this line.

[/ QUOTE ]Your taking a shot he doesn't have a pocket pair bigger than yours or a Jack. You push and if he pushes back you call down or give up. I think thats what Shillx was suggesting.

What about reraising PF? 77 is not exactly bad HU.

I think button could be raising with a wide range of hands, and yours could easily be better. I might re-raise pre-flop.

I certainly bet/raise this flop. I think you can find out where you at, and possibly take the hand down, before the turn.

What about a flop C/R? He raised preflop, he's more than likely going to bet out on the flop if checked to.

But with a mid pocket pair, I'd definitely 3-bet preflop and come out firing on the flop.

Reraise PF, because if the guy is trying to steal, he may just fold right there.Probably fold to a cap. If the flop does come, bet out-because you will probably pick it up right there.

Either bet our or CR, depending on your read of the opponent.

If your read of the opponent tells you that he is a weak bluffer, the CR is the better play. Let him bet then pop him, and he'll collapse and give you the pot.

Otherwise betting is better, especially against stubborn or tough opponents.

I like a flop c/r, call a reraise.

(It should be noted that I am overprotective heads-up, and not necessarily a champion of shorthanded play)
