Default How do you play AK against when someone comes in for a large raise.

I always think when some one comes in for 12X big blind that they have pocket 9's, 10's or J's and will always call with AK.

Yesterday I was in a 2/5 game I have just bought in and have about 500 in chips. MP raises to 100 (has 300 in chips)preflop. I have AKo in big blind and know he has pockets but not A's or K's. I called and flop was K 3 6. I check and MP bets 80. I reraise to 200 and MP folds.

If MP would have pushed all in preflop I would have folded. Are there any situations where you would fold this hand preflop when you are certain your opponent is not holded aces or kings?

Here's the problem with AK against someone who has a moderate pocket pair. You're only going to hit the flop 1/3rd of the time, and will not get paid off when you hit (as you have an overcard).

Mind you, this is if you're certain they have PP and not AQ, KQ etc.

are you playing for real money....in a 2/5 game the guy raised 20 times the big blind? Did I read that right?

Last week I played the $2/$5 NL game at Hollywood casino in Shreveport. I made a post about the game because it was so different to the online games I play. I got my ass handed to me in the game and posted some hands. Some people thought I was posting bad beat stories so I didnt get many responses but what I was trying to do was get ideas on how to play in a crazy game like this that is so different to what Im used to.

I bring this up because I saw several people open raise to $100. AQs was the only hand I saw at showdown.

I saw people raise to $25 with KQ and then call a reraise to $100
I saw people raise to $25 and then call a $100 all in with K8s.
It was crazy.
