Re: Best rock albums since 1990
I have to say, YHF was a great album, but like...not best album of the last fifteen years by any means. I've listened to it over and over and I still can't see why it's getting such massive applause, critical and otherwise...
Like I said, great album, but...I dunno...There are at least 3 Built to Spill albums that trounce YHF, although I'm somewhat biased since I have a man-crush on Doug Martsch. |

[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] #1: Yankee Hotel Foxtrot by Wilco [/ QUOTE ] I went to UW. I love UW. I used to blast UT at parties in our house on Randall Ct. I hate that YHFT record. I really hate that record. That is all. [/ QUOTE ] If it makes you feel any better, you're wrong about YHF. I don't mean that in a "in my opinion" kind of way. I mean that anyone who HATES YHF is objectively wrong and thus should recieve the board title of sub-human retard, ala CMI. [/ QUOTE ] I tried to like it. I really did. Wilco was one of my favorite bands up to that point (and Uncle Tupelo is in the top 3 for me). A.M. was awesome, as were Being There and Summerteeth, but YHFT just is way too cute. Tweedy has lost touch, IMHO. |

YHFT is the most over-rated record of the last 10 years. I hate it. I don't get the obsession with it at all. Summerteeth is infinitely better. [end rant] Here are some gems, in no particular order: Uncle Tupelo-No Depression (and it's not close) Marah-Let's Cut the Crap and Hook Up Later on Tonight U2-Achtung Baby BashNPop-Friday Night is Killing Me BuffaloTom-Let Me Come Over Radiohead-The Bends The Weakerthans-Left and Leaving 16 Horsepower-Low Estate Sebadoh-Bakesale [/ QUOTE ] Afew others: Whiskeytown-Stranger's Almanac Superchunk-Foolish Archers of Loaf-Icky Metal (I can't believe I forgot that one) The Bottle Rockets-The Brooklyn Side Elliott Smith-Either/Or The Spinanes-Strand Dinsoaur Jr. - Bug The Smashing Pumpkins-Siamese Dream The Replacements-All Shook Down The Lemonheads-It's a Shame About Ray Ben Lee-Breathing Tornadoes Yo La Tengo-Painful |
