Default Why all the secrecy about NYC poker clubs?

First it was MF then DC, then PS, BPC, AP, EV...etc.

Why all the code, I am pretty sure that if they have been raided, the cops know their name's.

You forgot NYPC.

You're right, but in this most recent instance I never heard anyone refer to the place as anything other than EV. I'm pretty sure nobody called it the Expected Value club.

can't hurt to be as safe as possible, ya know? also, it's possible that the cops don't care as long as they don't get too well known. out of sight, out of mind. if they keep being talked about in newspapers and online forums then it makes the cops look like they can't control their city.

I think OP meant the use of abbreviations after the places are raided. Why use them then?

I see alot of abbreviations on these forums. I dont think posters are trying to be secretive when naming clubs, just easier to type AP rather than type it out, or maybe just laziness.

i.e. YSSCKY

I was particularly interested because I saw someone asking if anyone was there when AP got busted, and I thought it might have been the AP with which I'm familiar..
