Default Reno/Lake Tahoe bound

My wife and I are taking a car trip from Mass. to Reno/Lake Tahoe beginning the 22nd of Sept. We plan to stay at Reno for 2or3 days and the same at Tahoe. Anyone have any ideas as to the best casinos to play poker at, and good deals for room rates ? Also I'm not sure any of the casinos in Tahoe offer poker which as far as I'm concerned may shorten our visit there. The trip west is going to take about 5 days of driving at roughly 10 hours per day. Once we hit Cleveland the 1st night its rte 80 all the way. The 2nd night we'll be staying outside of Des Moines and the 3rd night near Cheyenne. Does anyone know if there are any Casinos nearby at those locations?

Harvey's in Tahoe has a small poker room. El Dorado in Reno has a Room. Both are mostly low limit with an occasional 10-20 and sometimes a weekend no limit ring game. Good luck.

Try the Peppermill in Reno. Played there about nine months ago. They had a regular 15/30 holdem and a rare 40/80. Smokey though.

Are you planning to hit Wendover the night after Cheyenne? I think its about 550 mi. from cheyenne. If you hit wendo saturday night, rainbow is worth checking out. Particularly after the miserable drive through wyoming.

Default Boomtown

Boomtown in Verdi (about 10mi west of Reno on 80) has a three table room, they start with stud and spread 4/8 HE when they get enough names. Smoking allowed.

They also have great 1d blackjack, double on any two cards. I think no double after split... I really should have my a$$ kicked for forgetting. A natural pays 3:2! $5 minimum tables common, sometimes even $3. Full pay .25 jacks or better VP. $5 craps 2x odds. Really good prime rib restaurant. Also, they're the only N. Nevada place that consistently offers me free rooms

I have to make it a real point to drive on in to Reno (from Cali).

Oh yeah. Total rock garden during the day, even on weekends (even holidays). I think that's the case everywhere in Reno though.

(No, I'm not their shill. When I was single, Peppermill ruled and I would hit B'town on my way home at 4 AM)

Default Anyone know about Stateline Casinos?

What about poker in Stateline (near South Lake Tahoe, CA) or somewhere else not too far of a drive (after a long day of skiing)?
Anybody know about the toughness of opponents, games offered etc.?
I'm especially interested in low limit hold em.

The Atlantis has a fairly nice pokerroom and they were planning to make it smokefree but I'm not sure it went through. They usually spread 3/6 with a mini kill and on the weekends 6/12 probably with a kill as well, also some stud games. The games in Reno are usually kill games and can be quite passive, and yeah the 3/6 at the Atlantis has a $2 big blind.

Fmonti,

The Horizon in South Lake Tahoe has a poker room. I believe it was 2-6 spread limit HE w/ a half kill the last time I played there. Fun game, half tourists/half regulars. I also suggest you check the web site >casinocity.com for your cross country travels. Have a good trip.

The last time I was there (March), the poker room was smoke-free.

Great blackjack too, and fast dealers/deep pen/relatively little heat.
