Default Colorado Poker rooms - non smoking?

Hello,

I am planning on taking a trip up to Central City or Blackhawk soon. I am looking for a non smoking poker room up there. Are any of the poker rooms up there non smoking?

All rooms are smoking rooms. Half of the The Gilpin poker room is non-smoking, all tournament tables are non-smoking, there are three huge smoke eaters, and the ceiling is really high, so it's your best bet in avoiding smoke. The other rooms basically tan your lungs for free while you sit there.

Thanks to this thread and another about the way the rake changes on the weekends at other cardrooms I spent the last weekend at Gilpin.

I had a great time. My sister (AKA Bat Girl) and I did pretty well at the tables. All of the dealers were great. Not only did they keep the games moving, they were fun to be at the table with and many of them made an effort to memorize everyones name.

If you are going to be in the area and want to play some poker, I recomend gilpin. The lodge spread more games, but it's not isolated from the casion (bing bing bing clang) and pretty smokey. At least compared to the NS side of gilpin.

Thanks to every dealer I met at Gilpin. Winning is fun, but you made it even better.

P.S. PM me if you want to go to Tulalip in Washington. I haven't gone yet, but I would if someone wanted to go the the non smoking tables there. I THINK that's where the non smoking tables in WA are anyway.

I ended up going to the gilpin for a saturday a few weeks ago. Overall I was very impressed with the room, the dealers, and the incredibly weak opponents. Hopefully they do well, it was by far the nicest of any of the casinos in Colorado.

The Gilpin definitely has the nicest poker room and best intentions of any casino in Black Hawk or Central City. You can tell they really are trying to be the best room around. The only problem is they don't get a whole lot of games going, but hopefully that's just because they're still relatively new. The location is the worst of the poker-room casinos in BH, so that's got to have something to do with it too. If you can't handle smoke, I'd stay away from Central Station and probably The Lodge. In fact, I'm not much a fan of The Lodge anyway. Mountain high isn't too bad with smoke, because the ceilings are pretty high, but if you're sitting next to someone who's smoking, you're still going to get it.

In the end, I'll play at the Gilpin and Mountain High. They are #1 and #2 as far as "nice" rooms go, and I like the action at Mountain High. I'm really rooting for The Gilpin to take off, though, and once they do, there'll be no reason to go anywhere else unless the Gilpin's list is 3429876467 people long.

Yeah, I went up there and played in the Hoppin 44 tournament at 3:00. Well, I played for an hour and a half before that, but nothing interesting. I bubbled out of the tournament. With three people left, I called the short stack's all in with AQs and lost to her 77, then the situation was reversed later when I was the short stack and went all in with TT and she called me with KQo and got 4 running spades. We were on the bubble for a loooong time and the other four tables were waiting for us to finish for at least 20-30 minutes. I guess it wasn't bad for my second ever NL tournament, but it's obviously very disappointing - I was chip leader at one point about halfway through and lost it on a similar big overcards versus pocket pair all-in trying to eliminate the short stack. It was a fun tournament - it's much better when you can catch the nut straight and double up early (I busted a woman out of the tournament when my BB special 86o caught the nuts on her two pair in the 2nd hand of the tourney).
