Writing a poker book
I have an idea for a book on poker. It is something I think every serious poker player could benefit from, but I have yet to see anything remotely like it on the market.
Writing this book will be a lot of work, and I don't want to begin without the assurance that a publisher is interested in it. Of course, publishers cannot determine whether they are interested in a book without knowing what it is about. However, I fear that once I tell them my idea, they may try to steal it. Can anyone advise me on how to proceed? |

Re: Writing a poker book
The usual approach is to put together a book proposal. This would consist of a 1 or 2 page description of the book, a chapter outline, a sample chapter, and a discussion of why you are qualified to write about this subject.
Writer's Digest is the major magazine for aspiring writers. They have a web site that might provide more info. Most publishers do not accept unsolicited proposals unless you have an agent, but smaller publishers might take a look. |

If you're looking for 2+2 to publish it, I can tell you right now, you need to write it first.

Re: Writing a poker book
What about submitting an article to 2+2 magazine? You will have the rights to it after the few months it appears online, you'll get $300 I think, and you'll see a response to your thoughts in the forum.
If the article is that good, then perhaps 2+2 would be willing to talk to you about your ideas on a book. -Jman28 |

Re: Writing a poker book
Just tell me the idea. I can tell you if they'll be interested.
