Default WSOP Day 3: \"Official\" News, Results, and Discussion

Card Player says 569 players will begin play at noon tomorrow (though their chip count only lists 566 players).

They'll be playing hand-for-hand until they reach the money when the field is reduced to 560 players. Blinds will be 1,000-2,000 with a 300 ante.

Here are the top ten chip leaders:

1 Rod Pardey Jr. 464,000 Chips
2 James Pollack 447,500 Chips
3 Tim Phan 445,500 Chips
4 Bryan Stellwagen 377,200 Chips
5 Bob Hotchandani 372,700 Chips
6 Lee Watkinson 336,800 Chips
7 Jon Lane 331,800 Chips
8 Russ Salzer 326,000 Chips
9 Greg Raymer 318,700 Chips
10 Yakov Hirsch 318,100 Chips

For Raymer to be doing so well is going to be a big part of the story tomorrow and when the ESPN show airs. This is the first time a defending champion has made a serious run in quite a few years.

These are the lowest ranked players on the chip counts. Six (or nine?) will barely miss out on $12,500.

547 James Courtney 16,800 Chips
548 Bruce Atkinson 16,800 Chips
549 Steven Brown 16,100 Chips
550 George Alex 16,000 Chips
551 Paul Zimbler 15,800 Chips
552 Patrick McCann 15,400 Chips
553 Dan Burns 15,300 Chips
554 Gang Huang 15,200 Chips
555 John Bae 14,900 Chips
556 Martin Laliberte 14,000 Chips
557 Eamon Grimes 13,500 Chips
558 Marty Foth 13,100 Chips
559 Freddie Jones 12,700 Chips
560 Angeloudis Kostas 11,800 Chips
561 Jason Seitz 11,300 Chips
562 Sarne Lightman 11,200 Chips
563 Bill Bostley 9,500 Chips
564 Larry Collins 7,600 Chips
565 Vadim Shlez 5,800 Chips
566 Michael Santoro 3,200 Chips

It'll cost $5,700 to play one orbit at a nine-handed table. Some of these folks are going to have a hard time folding their way into the money.

Here are the chip amounts for all players.

I thought it was ninehanded?
And I also thought it was 1k/2k with 200 ante, but maybe that was the final level of day two?

It is 9-handed and was all of Day 2. Blinds/antes start Day 3 at $1K/2K with $300 ante.

I am still hanging around with $61K. Wish me luck.

560 make the money? Did I miss the post with the pay structure? That seems really high. Geez, there are a lot of people.

Big thread somewhere but paying 10% of the field and not the "normal" 30-40% top payout, all at the final table make at least a million.

Is the payout for Bubble Boy #561 (tourney directors are calling it "last place") $12,500, and the first person in the money (#560) is in the neighborhood of $20K? I thought I saw that info somewhere.

Is Olga Varkonyi the wife of the ex-champ? She's behind a nice stack of chips going into Day #3?

One interesting name on the list in 43rd place, is that Robert Varkonyi's wife? I imagine ESPN would love for her to make a run, it would make for lots of easy stories.
