Default a couple of MTT hands from the 45k

Hi all, tournaments aren't exactly my thing. I'm always really scared in them and don't have too great of a feel for what I'm doing. I definitely need more experience, but today's 11r 45k on stars was my first "real" mtt, in that it's the first one I've been able to play without pushbotting through the second and third breaks. Here are a couple hands that I felt a little out of place in.

1: Money was at 99 and there were like 120 left... but I doubt villain is too concerned about bubble. I was chipleader at the time. I just moved to this table an orbit earlier and don't really have an image or a great read on villain. He has taken the blinds once or twice so far and has decent results on thepokerdb, but that's about all I have to go by.

Preflop: Hero is SB with 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img].

Flop: (t17700) 3[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 7[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 3[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players)

Hero checks, MP3 checks.

River: (t41700) K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players)
Hero checks, MP3 bets t15000, Hero calls t15000.

Final Pot: t71700

On this hand I went ahead and posted the entire thing because I thought the river decision might be significant (and I'm not too crazy about how I played it up until the river). Also, should I have considered a re-raise preflop?

2: I have been playing pretty tight and stealing occasionally. I've shown down 0 hands in the time I've been at the table. There are about 45ish left, and I'm 17 in chips. Avg is 160k. Opponent has played O.K. so far but has made 1 or 2 loose calls in my opinion. He's pretty much average in every respect and has usually shown down quality hands.

I also have a few questions/thoughts on these rebuy tournaments. TPFAP says the proper strategy for rebuy tournaments is just to revert to ring game strategy, but I have seen other "respected" tournament players make rebuy calls that would be pretty questionable in any ring game I've played in. My best guess as to why this is is that people tend to still be in rebuy mode after the first break and still play donkishly (and the bigger the stack, the worse the player). Most of them have little to no 100bb poker experience, so being able to cover them and take advantage of them post-break is important enough to justify slightly -tev (40/60s say) gambles early on in hopes of building a big stack quick. Am I close?

All in all, I think these are wicked fun and look forward to playing them a lot in the future.

Any help is appreciated, thanks!
