Can I beat 10-20 in a weekend AC game? (Oct 8-10)
I'm beating 0.50-1 online and 5-10 live in Ontario, Canada.
My BR can withstand a shot at 10-20. Should I play it when I go to AC October 8-10, or is it out of my league? |

10-20 in AC is a joke if you have any game at all. The players are mostly passive calling stations. If you can afford it, take a shot with a rack. 6-12 is good too if things don't go well for you or you're not comfortable.

My (limited) experience is that it is a high variance game. I took a three day trip and played all 10-20. As the previous poster mentioned, there are a TON of calling stations, but when their 95o hits two pair on the river against your AK on an A-Q-5-J-9 board, it's awfully frustrating. Happened to me time and time again, and I got stuck quite a bit. If you can dodge that short term, it can be very profitable.

isn't foxwoods closer? [/ QUOTE ] According to google maps, foxwoods is a 10 hour drive and atlantic city is an 11 hour drive, so you're right. Neither one is particularly close though. I'd love to make a trip to a poker hub but I can't see it worth being that long of a drive. Well it wouldn't be if I ran bad at least. I think I'm going to hold out for a trip to Vegas. Hey xTKOx, have you checked out the Western Fair poker room at all? Is it worth playing at (as opposed to say Brantford)? I might be visiting a buddy in London this weekend so I might try to check out the action. |

Re: Can I beat 10-20 in a weekend AC game? (Oct 8-10)
I'm going to AC because I have tickets to a JM3 concert at the Borg. It also falls on the [Canadian] thanksgiving long weekend. Can any Americans shed light on if this is also a long weekend in the States?
The Western Fair games are super soft, but expect a long wait. There are four 5-10 tables and one 10-20 table. Games are 11-handed, and typically there are 6-9 players per flop. The rake is 5%, $7.50 max, as opposed to the 10%, $5 max at Brantford, so this will cut into the big pots that you would expect to win in the games here, but save you $$ in the few small pots you take down. I wouldn't say it's worth the extra 2 hours of gas for you to come here over Brantford, but if you're already here, I think it's worth saving the 2 hours of gas it would cost you to Brantford. Anyway, I'll be playing there all week, and if variance doesn't kill my ability to take a shot in AC, then I forsee myself playing in the 10-20 there. Is the Borg fine? I'll be there anyway, so this is likely where I will play. I'll keep a marble in front of my chips if anyone wants to give a sup bro. Will anyone be there? |

Yours truly has tried live, full-kill 10/20 with only a 150BB roll. It was the biggest game at this particular casino. Tougher than live 4/8, but I didn't feel out of my league. It helped that my card were flaming hot: +$850 in 2.5 hrs.
If you can afford the hit, by all means take a shot. |
