Default What\'s up with all the .net(s)?

Anyone know why most if not all the online poker sites that use both .com and .net domains, only advertise their .net domains on TV? Example: Pokerstars, Party, FullTilt, and Pacific (except when they use 888.com which im sure they paid a pretty penny for). Ive never seen this with any other type of industry before.

.net is for the "free" poker instruction and Play $$ sites, .com is for the $$$ sites, mainly. About 2 years ago the USDOJ started enforcing a law against advertising of online gambling for $$$, and the .net is a deft dodge of this law, as they are "free" sites".

At the .net sites, all you can go is download the play money version. The sites are not allowed to advertise real money poker on US TV.

The US Justice Department thinks it's illegal to advertise gambling sites in the US, and has confiscated several million dollars that the Discovery Channel received from some site as ad payments. The play money .nets are the easiest solution the sites had available.

There is a "Play Money" only version of the various online poker software? I'm assuming there is an obvious way to get to Real Money from it...

My guess is that half the people who see a commercial for "partypoker.net" and decide to check it out either type in "partypoker.com" or google for "partypoker"
