Default Re: Bridge style Tournament for Holdem?

I was thinking one way it could work would be to have all heads up games. There are a few different options as to how to determine who moves on.

Each player would start with, say 1000 chips at the beginning of each hand. After each hand you would keep track of points scored for the hand. So if you got 300 of your opponents chips you would get 300 points for that hand. After the hand is over you reset to 1000 chips each. After a predetermined number of hands, for example 300 hands, stage 1 of the tournament would end. So, if you started out with 100 heads up matches we would want to eliminate half of the field after stage 1.

There are a couple of options for deciding who moves on. You could take the top 50 point getter's regardless of which seat they were in. Or you could take the top 25 from seat 1 and the top 25 from seat 2. So, if seat 1 hands had an EV advantage for the entire match it would be unfair to move the top point getter's on because all seat 1's would (or should) be ahead. Or maybe both seats could play the same 300 or 1000 hands against each other and whoever has the most points at the end of each individual match goes on. The problem with this would be players may remember the hands and what will come on the river.

Its starting to sound more and more doable.
