Unfortunately, I'm at work and don't have time to scour the internet for absurd looking French cuff shirts. But try this one for starters.

Edit: Damnit, quickly reading this thread, I mistakenly thought this was a French cuff shirt. I suck. But I definitely have seen French cuff shirts in similar patterns.

Ugh. That shirt is hideous.

The Brits have been wearing loudly patterned shirts for generations with their ties and whatnot. It's not that difficult.

Hard to argue with that.

Throw a jacket and a dark tie and it isn't horrible, but you're right, that shirt kinda doesn't want a tie.

In general I think the default answer with most fashion is "if you can make it work, do it". I feel like that especially applies here.

Sorry if I am unnecessarily bumping this thread - but I feel it's an important point to emphasize -

Shirts with French cuffs that are not fitted shirts tend to look really bad on the wearer, unless the casual fit shirt happens to be a very good fit. The key is in the sleeves, where a lame sort of billowing can occur.

I've noticed in NY (where I worked in investment banks) that french cuffs sans suit / tie were way more popular than in SF (where I worked in VC). However, despite the higher prevalence in NY, the acceptance rate in SF was just as high.

I'm in LA now, wearing a french cuff shirt (Pink) without a tie, and slacks - co-workers are indifferent to positive on it, no negative.

I have, never, ever seen someone where french cuffs with jeans. Wearing Pumas with a blazer is a good analogy for the look I think this achieves.

I am at work in DC. I am wearing a french cuff Burberry shirt (with suit). DC is a fashion disaster as a town and I may be no exception. I accidentally bought a mess of Burberry shirts without realizing they were french cuff and decided I liked the look.

I am sure I look like an [censored] though as my wife has good taste and votes against the look. Then again around here I look pimp by default.

you definately hafta have the right cuff links...

and there are probably some that work better with some shirts than others.

i had a french cuff shirt but the dry cleaners ruined it. it was a cheap shirt that looked nice (white with pattern in the thread, very subtle though). the buttons melted off the damn thing. (hence cheap). but it was perfect for my corporate whoring schtick.

BR shirts also have this problem at dry cleaners so be careful (a friend's parents own a dry cleaners, he filled me in)

Can you elaborate on the differences between a sport coat and a dinner jacket? Thanks.

Why try and dress down a formal shirt by pairing it with jeans (even if they are "nice" ones). From what others have said in this thread you seem like you could pull it off but it seems like wearing a French cuff in this manner is just trying too hard.
