I don't deny that I'm a weak player. I don't play nearly as hands as all of you, but I am continuing to get better- the couple of hands I posted were horrible examples of how I really play, and the [censored] that's being posted towards me on this thread is highly unappreciated.

Oh, and for someone who's never played anything more than 10 dollar STTs, a 105BB drop in about an hour is pretty damn big. But again, thanks for all the lovely comments.

The problem that I personally had was when you berated the person's play and showed us that you "deserved" to win. The resonse you received from everyone else was expected.

If you are truly serious about becoming a better player, then start looking at the flaws of your own game since those are the factors you can control - not the cards you were dealt, or the mistakes by others who caught the cards to beat you. There are some serious fundamental problems with your play. I hope you can recognize that.

FWIW

I don't play NL but isn't 100 big blinds a reasonable stack/buy in/whatever? So isn't losing this much on one hand perfectly reasonable? People go all in all the time, and often lose. If you can't deal with this, this isn't the game for you.

Nevermind- I you missed the point of what I was trying to say. I was making my first foray into .5-1 NL and therefore a 105BB drop to start my cash game career was a little bit shocking. I'm not saying I can't recover from it.

No, I didn't miss the point. My point is that it seems you have a fundamental mis understanding of what a reasonable degree of variance is in a NL cash game. I would expect that people lose a buyin in X% of their sessions. I would expect that beginning players lose their buyins an even higher percentage of the time, say 30, 40%? I'm kind of pulling this out of my ass, but what I'm trying to say is that you should have had a better idea about how possible this was before sitting down.

1. Stop playing NL if you are susceptable (sp?) to tilt. A NL bad beat can be way more brutal than a limit one.

2. Everyone has terrible beats, good players get bad beats way more often than bad players. You WANT to be the guy getting the bad beats, not the beneficary. It means you are consistently getting your money in with better hands and the other guy has to catch up from behind, and if you play proper you should be way ahead.

Lessons from this thread:

1. Don't raise 33 UTG in a small stakes game.
2. Don't criticize other players at the table (for a bunch of reasons).
3. Don't post bad beat stories.

Your boat v. boat hand reminds me of Rounders. So do what Matt Damon did. Spend time with friends, take a beating from the cops, borrow money from your professor, and get back into the game!
