Here's a better question --

The sb has been sitting on your right for 3 hours. You've never discussed chopping. He's a reasonable player (but not as good as you of course ). You've already looked at your hand and have A [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]Q [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. Folds all around and now he asks if you want to chop?

What I did --

He was a reasonable guy and we were having a good time playing next to each other, so I chopped and flipped. He then flipped JJ, so we got a good laugh over it.

As a general rule, I'd rather not chop, but unless I was playing next to a jerk, I'd agree, just to keep the game light.

Of course, if it was my best friend, I might be the douchebag, just cuz -- but that's a special case, because we'd get the bigger laugh that way.

Should I

a. chop and be a nice guy and respect the poker code of always chopping... or

b. be a douchebag and stick it to him so i can laugh at him later as i spend his money on beer and food.

[/ QUOTE ]

As you know if you are chopiing, you always chop; however, I think an exception can be amde if it is your buddy and you get to give him a hard time about it later.

When everyone at the table folds to the blinds they have the option of taking their blinds back and just starting a new hand just as they would if they played it out.

A part of me really wanted to lay down the hammer here and be a douchebag, just because well I'm an awful human being and i know it would've pissed him off soemting awful, but it felt too much like cheating, even though it technically wasn't.

I still wish i would've taken his chips from that pot, set them asside at the table and used them to tip the cocktail waitresses for a round of drinks for the table several times over the night.

don't be so sure. at the mirage a few years ago, a similar situation came up. the floor was called and they ruled since the player had been chopping all night, he had to chop when he had aces, too.

I generally like to clarify whether I'm chopping or not with my neighbors before our first hand is dealt.

At Wynn I got called to a new 8-16 table. First hand gets dealt and I'm the SB. It gets folded around and I muck without thinking and then tell my neighbor that I either lose or we chop. He tables KK and tells me that he doesn't chop.

Very next hand it gets folded around again. My neighbor, who is now the SB, looks to the BB and says "Chop?"

I highly doubt this was exactly the case and if it was, the floorman should be kicked in the nuts because he's an idiot.

Anyone ever heard the old saying: "past performance doesnt' dictate future outcomes"?

It's like being on a 3 lane highway and passing someone in the middle lane on the right and then on the left. It's your choice, do it!
(very loose analogy)

Wait until you have aces in the blind with him, tell him that since he doesn't chop with you that you're raising. Keep betting until the river, and hope he doesn't suck out. Maybe he will learn his lesson (probably not).
