Default Party 10/20: 87s SB defense

Button is loose and aggressive (45/18/1.5 over 250 hands or so, steals a lot), BB is a good, observant 2+2-type (27/16.5/1.8). BB has been defending against steals pretty frequently.

fold preflop. Postflop is standard. Call river raise.

I don't mind preflop too much actually with a 1/2 blind structure. Mid suited connectors are one of the few types of hands I will call a steal from in the SB. Post flop is super standard.

If this was a caffione quiz, preflop would look like this, fold-100, raise-5, call-0.

Postflop is fine and or dandy, call the river raise, despite schneids recent post about the relative ease with which this forum generally votes for paying of river raises/bets in big pots, I think you get bluff raised (sometimes it's infact an accidental attempt at a value bluff with AKo or something) on the river enough to call getting 10-1.

Posting blind:

Postflop is standard - especially the river, you have to bet so A-hi can call, the river card is great for that. If it had been something like an offsuit Q or J you could consider checking to induce a bluff perhaps.

That said, i'd let this go preflop. I don't like having a TAG behind me who will 3bet alot of holdings (correctly) and my implied odds for this drawing hand are shot in the SB.

If I really wanted to play b/c button's range is so wide and I want him to lay off my blinds i'd 3bet and go from there, because I think we don't encourage a family pot as often as we'd like and my deception/aggression will be worth more HU.

Dan I think calling preflop here is a really big mistake, can you elaborate on why you think it's ok.

Fairly simple: if I pokerstove PF equity against a heavy stealer the odds are more than sufficient. I know PF equity doesn't tell the whole story but I feel that PF odds + postflop playability are good enough to call so I call. This is about as low as I go with suited connectors though.

I think preflop is bad specifically b/c the bb plays well. If the BB sucks then I think this is borderline, but since he doesn't suck I think 3-betting is much better calling (folding being my favorite choice).

If anyone is proficient in TTH or Poki this would be a great simulation to run.
