I thought he was going to bet (he did) and wanted to raise hoping to make him fold.

Why do you want him to fold if you think you have the best hand here? Check-raising is good to get more money in the pot now while you are ahead, not for making a weaker hand fold. You should still bet out the turn.

I'm wondering why you didn't cap this turn. Maybe I'm just too LAGgy heads-up/shorthanded (my stats hold this out), but I could see someone going bananas HU with a paired ace (also with the first half of the runner-runner flush?) I honestly think you have him reverse dominiated.

I probably cap this turn, bet out, and only slow down if he's still raising me. But that might be the maniac in me talking.

I really don't understand this hand at all. Not check/raising the river seems pretty weak to me (betting the river is lame though). Do you see why?

By betting the river he will call with worse hands and usually raise with better hands. So you are in a lose two or win one situation. By check/raising he will almost never 3-bet since you figure to have a flush. So you figure to either win two when ahead and lose two when behind.

That's [censored] terrible. I never raise in hold'em HU with two pair hoping to make someone fold.
