Huge hands in 1st two levels of a tourney
How much is the correct raise in the 1st level of blinds in a T10k MTT? (with blinds @T25/50 or T50/100) By "huge hands" I'm talking about anything QQ - AA. I am caught in the conundrum of either not getting any action because I raised too much or letting other players in too cheaply to see the flop and either getting sucked out on or not getting what I think is good enough value from big pocket pairs in this situation. My first post here although I've been reading this site for some time and have really learned a lot. Thanks!!

Re: Huge hands in 1st two levels of a tourney
I like a standard raise of 3-5 BBs.
Don't be weak about these preflop. With AA or KK, I want my money in regardless of the level, so I'm hoping for a big reraise. QQ I don't like as much, so I'd prefer to see a flop with it. Regards, T |

Re: Huge hands in 1st two levels of a tourney
That's been somthing I've been trying to plug up. I get too caught up in the whole "everytime I raise 3.5xBB they all fold, I want, no I need someone to call my AA or KK."
I have since not been all that conerned with the aspect. I just want my money in when I've got the best. If they all fold, I'll still take the blinds and know that I'll get the same hand a few more times tonight. |
