It's all relative, but I don't think 3/6 is really that much harder than .5/1. For example, it's still common for someone to cap 6th because they have trips (unless your board is a 4 straight or flush). People play amazingly bad at stud/8.

On the other hand, I know I played amazingly bad when I first started too. So, it's really hard to say how you're going to do as you move up.

I agree that 2-4 and 3-6 people still make blatent mistakes but its nowhere near as bad as .50/1.

As random said its all relative to your skill level, move up til you find a game that your losing at, then move down another level and work on your game

how long have you been playing $0.50/1.00? i have been playing around 3 weeks now, have not enjoyed the same success...had a great week, then had 2 bad weeks laced with awful play. now i'm down 20 bb's from where i started. s'all good. not too bad for someone that is just starting stud

Give 3/6 or 2/4 a shot. Just play a little tighter, you'll figure it out.

one last note, if you are winning, why try to find a harder game? that's just asking for trouble man! i would recommend playing 0.50/1.00 some more, grind it out and once you're up some more, then give 1/2 a shot. err...wait, the point of the thread is "where will it get harder?" ah..well if you are in the pursuit of finding a tougher game, do not do that!!

My point is that he can move up to 3/6 without experiencing much of a change in the play.
