Just played this hand, and I think I did it right...
10-handed 3/6 table on Multi:
I'm dealt JJ UTG, and choose to limp. Six callers in unraised pot. Flop brings a Q, I check, and MP2 or 3 bets out. I fold without much fanfare. Did I play this incorrectly? |

Re: Just played this hand, and I think I did it right...
you choose to limp because.... you want to QT, Ax, KT to see the flop for cheap? it's a crime to be dealt a premium hand and then give it away.

Re: Just played this hand, and I think I did it right...
I think it may be correct to occasionally limp with big suited cards up front ak or aq and i mean rarely. I dont even know if ive done it in my last few thousand hands. Reason being is they do well multiway as well as with few oppts, so u may wanna do it every few sessions that u play with regulars so u could vary ur game. As for tt-qq i never limp because as one poster put it you dont want to let kx ax qt etc get in cheaply. Some ppl play q2s if its cheap. U want those overcards out. Also when a flop comes with no more than 1 overcard u should typically bet it out, and if raised, u have something to think about. Finally doesnt sound like uve read Small Stakes Hold'em by Ed Miller. Its a bit frustrating when people keep saying SSH and beginners have no clue what that is.

FWIW, I think think that you ought draft your responses with a little more diligence and clarity so that readers can gain the benefit of your clear thoughts rather than a jumble of rhetoric. Lastly, I think it is abundantly clear that the OP is a newbie. Giving advice to "vary your play" by limping big suited cards is way bad. OP needs to learn to crawl before enrolling in the marathon; advice that you may choose to take for yourself. No bad intended. |

JJ cry at you to raise them. You wouldn't slowplay a AJ on a jack-high flop, would you? 2+2ers don't let drawers draw cheap.

Re: Just played this hand, and I think I did it right...
Well, I appreciate the candor amidst the flames.
What I actually am is not a newbie but a formerly good player who has gone through about a year of personal problems that have destroyed my fundamentals and feel for the game, so I'm trying to get back to the basics, because nothing was automatic anymore. I understand that what I did was a mistake now. Thank you. |
