Default Call down?

Villian is like 27/5/1.4

Is this one of those situations where I should just call down and lose the least and/or win the most?

I like it. I think heads up with a draw heavy board and likely holding the best hand raising the turn is better than calling down. I don't think calling down wins you the most.

Yeah, I'm not nuts about the turn raise. He looks pretty passive, and probably slowed down cuz he irrationally feared that his flush is no good.

If he is on a stone bluff, he'll fold to your turn raise. I think a call-down is prudent here.

Don't you think a made flush would typically check/raise the turn? He has absolutely no reason to think QTip wouldn't bet.

btw Chief....I was planning on folding to a 3 bet...I think that would be standard here. Some people just play a made flush straight up like that...

I dunno. If he's got a baby flush, he's not gonna want to miss a bet here.

Assuming you are correct, then what is villain betting? IMO it HAS to be 2-pair, in which case I think a call down is better. Or it is a stone bluff, in which case a raise will only run him off.

This falls under the "gaybet" category and I'd say it's usually a worse made hand that still will likely call the raise or a semibluff with the A [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. But you're right that a flush is possible. I would bet a flush here a lot of the time. I just felt the average 3/6er goes for a check/raise. But I've been wrong before. I think if it's a total bluff it's usually the last bet you're getting anyway.

With a board like this, I generally raise the turn and check the river, and fold to a turn 3-bet or a river bet. My logic was that this approach cost the same as a showdown but gave me fold equity, and that if I bet the river he'd only call with hands that were beating me.

But I think I miss a lot of value bets on the river. Many BBs will play this hand like he did w/ any Q, any 9, or the A [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] and lately I've been tyring to play it like you did.
