Foxwoods really sucks
I know many of you have commented on some of these things in the past but I just came back and...
Foxwoods Sucks. the limits on the nl games make no sense and I had two blowouts at the table about card showing, collusion, boardreading, etc. where I was told that players talk and there is nothing that can be done. They don't use last aggressor for teh showing of cards, allow players out of the hand to ask to see cards... arghhhhh bad trip - and not because I lost. i came back fifty dollars up...not a good trip but not a loser. the main issue is that the floors are weak, the dealers are terrible( no wonder they agree to pool tips), and the entire atmosphere is awful. |

Re: Foxwoods really sucks
I disagree that it is as bad as you say, and it does sound like sour grapes. However, that being said...When you are the only game in town, you can pretty much do what you want.

They don't use last aggressor for teh showing of cards, the dealers are terrible( no wonder they agree to pool tips), [/ QUOTE ] Whoever is first to act should be first to show - that is the standard and what they use at Foxwoods. The dealers didn't "agree" to anything - to the contrary, a majority of dealers that I have speak to would prefer to keep their own tips, as it rewards excellence and doesn't reward mediocrity and perpetuate communism. MOST dealers would make more $ via keeping their own tips, and they know it. Barron Vangor Toth BarronVangorToth.com |

the limits on the nl games make no sense and I had two blowouts at the table about card showing, collusion, boardreading, etc. where I was told that players talk and there is nothing that can be done. [/ QUOTE ] This is obviously unacceptable if it's as you say. If it's friendly banter, that's a different story. It crosses the line when it's not one player to a hand anymore. [ QUOTE ] They don't use last aggressor for teh showing of cards, allow players out of the hand to ask to see cards... [/ QUOTE ] By last aggressor, do you mean if the river is checked? Standard poker rules dictate the worst position shows first in these spots. I understand that New York and Borgata are different (last aggressor shows in checked river). But the rest of the poker world isn't like this. Obviously, if there is a bet on the end, the bettor shows. As for allowing players out of the hand to see the cards, that is also standard. Anyone dealt in can ask to see a mucked hand at showdown. It's dickish and I'd never do it, but that's the rule in most casinos. If someone is abusing this privilege (ie. doing it repeatedly), the floor should be called. [ QUOTE ] the main issue is that the floors are weak, the dealers are terrible( no wonder they agree to pool tips), and the entire atmosphere is awful. [/ QUOTE ] The floor is pretty bad there, slow to fill seats and generally lethargic (I haven't been there in a year, but that's how it was before. BTW, with the tipping, I don't think the dealers "agreed" to it. I think the reason they're bad is that the best dealers go somewhere where they can make more (keeping their own tips) and those that stay either suck or see no reason to put lots of effort in b/c they will make the same no matter what. Communism failed for the same reason. As for the atmosphere, it's a zoo in the poker room, that's true. Once seated, it's ok. Did you at least go to the steakhouse? Japanese place? Italian place in the Rainforest Casino? The restaurants at the Woods are very good (avoid the buffet however). Overall, I prefer AC greatly, but I still hit the Woods once or twice a year if I can. Thanks for the good post. Jeff |

I've seen it ruled both ways in Las Vegas poker rooms. Sometimes even in the same room. Go figure. |

Re: Foxwoods really sucks
I always run into the "you show first," "no YOU show first" BS at Foxwoods, and I am not the least bit shy about yelling "would you both just turn your friggin cards over!" That's a huge pet peeve of mine, feels like fingernails on a chalkboard to me...bunch of idiots.

Joe
I totally agree with your comments on the Woods. They own the market and they run the largest room East of CA. They are not perfect but neither is the MGM with the most modern interactive table/board system in the country. My only real issue with FW is why are they the only poker room in the country who can't get the autoshufflers to work? I played for 4 days in Vegas and saw one jam which the dealer fixed himself. |

Re: Foxwoods really sucks
the instances were like this...
waiting for a 10/20 seat the only game available is 1/2nlhe. I sit...i get jt suited on the button...it is checked around. i bet twelve. three callers. flop is jack high, rainbow. check, check, I bet 45 (in hindsight I should have just gone all in seeing how I am more than fifty percent in - to those that don't know foxwoods has a 100 max buy in). the first guy folds...the next player looks at his cards...shows them to his buddy sitting to the right of him and the other guy says "he's only got a jack...go all in." he does it...i call...he hits an ace on the river and shows ace ten off... I told the dealer "one player to a hand" prior to the turn and river and was steamed. On the ten twently later i three bet with ak suited from early posistion. hit the king with a 78 of my suit. I bet and get called by two players. j on the turn...bet - call - call. blank on the river. I check and it is bet by second posistion. I call and wait to see what he has...wait...wait. "show em." I say. The other two players say I'm in worst posistion and have to show first...yada yada yada...the dealer agrees. I tell them "last agressor etc." and finally can't take it and show only to have the second guy go "i put you on that" and show his 9T off for the straight... |
