Default Monitor settings

Ok I open up display properties -> settings -> advanced -> monitor and both monitors have a refresh rate of 60hz?? This is the only setting I can select unless I uncheck the "hide modes this monitor cannot display". Is it my vid card that decides what refresh rates I can set or the specs of the monitors? Does this mean both my monitors are at 60hz??

Also think my dell lcd is set up in analog.

The laptop is a thinkpad (integrated graphics card) and external monitor is the dell lcd.

60Hz is fine for an LCD, there's no direct comparison with the refresh rates you'd expect on a CRT.

Ok thanks. My laptop monitor is a pain in the ass to look at though.
